What exactly is deliverance?

Deliverance is the biblical and spiritual process of being freed from demonic influence, oppression, and spiritual bondage.
It is not sensationalism—it is Jesus’ ministry (Mark 1:34, Luke 4:18). 

Deliverance restores:

• The soul, spirit and physical body

• Power to walk with God
  
  

It is simply God setting His children free.

Does a Christian need deliverance?

Yes. Christians, a believer or some one that is born again cannot be possessed, but they can be oppressed, afflicted, tormented, and influenced by demonic forces. That being said, you must be 'truly born-again' and living in holiness, led by the spirit of God. Other-wise, you can be possessed again. Your faith walk is not by profession and the spiritual security you receive is the evidence. It is a daily war aside from you coming for prayer. Demons are spirits and do not die. Once one is conquered you will have to conquer another. They live in the body and soul and stack themselves like coins.

Why are deliverance ministries so rare in America?

Several reasons:

1. Western culture is highly intellectual, often ignoring the spiritual realm.
   
   

2. Many churches prioritize comfort and programs instead of spiritual warfare.
   
   

3. There is fear of controversy or misunderstanding.
   
   

4. Deliverance requires 'being called by God', sacrifice, fasting, prayer, and holiness—few leaders are trained.
   
   

5. Demonic powers fight hardest against ministries that expose them.
   
   

Wherever God’s power is rare, darkness is strong.

How do I know if I need deliverance?

Some common signs:

• Persistent spiritual heaviness or fear

Is deliverance scary?

No—deliverance is freeing.
The enemy wants you to fear it so he can keep you bound.

Jesus said:

“Fear not.”

Deliverance is peaceful when done under the power of the Holy Spirit.
It is not Hollywood—it is healing.

Is deliverance just shouting at demons?

No. Usually when there is shouting it is the power of the holy spirit at work beyond what can be seen. A minister may physically tell the demon to go but this command is only able to be carried out by the 'magnificent presence of God'. There are Angels that are sent to destroy the works of darkness. These things we usually cannot see with our physical eyes as the battle is in the spirit. By the presence of God, we may at times see a demon speak and manifest through someone undergoing deliverance. This is again the evidence of God's power over demons as sin will never reveal itself to a human being without being forced to by God. As said in Psalm 56:5-6, 5 Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.6 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul. It is a form of prayer and an outward demonstration of the might of holiness and separation of Heaven and earth when this is taking place - commanding a Demon to leave. All are in the need of deliverance. Every human being born to the earth has demons and they have almost polluted every family line.

Can’t I just pray by myself instead of seeking a minister?

Some freedom can come from personal prayer, but deep or long-standing bondages require God’s appointed deliverance ministers. Just as you may pray for healing but still visit a doctor, deliverance often requires someone trained and anointed to help.

God raises deliverance ministers because:

Psalm 34:19 says:

“Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers them out of them all.”

Is deliverance safe?

When done through the Holy Spirit, under a called minister, yes—completely safe.
It is unsafe only when attempted:

Why do demons fight so hard to stay?
